FENG SHUI IN THE YEAR OF THE RED MONKEY

According to Chinese astrology the year of the Red Monkey is starting on the 8th of February 2016 and it will end on the 27h of January 2017.

How to harmonize the astral energies in our houses working with Feng Shui in the year of the Red Monkey.

People born between 12th february 1956 and 30th January 1957 are Monkey + Fire element (Red Monkey).

Also people born in 1968, 1980, 1992 and 2004 belong to Monkey sign, but with a different combination with the Earthly Branches, so they are dependent on other energies within the cycle of the 5 elements.

In Western Zodiac the Red Monkey corresponds to Lio.

In the Eastern world the Monkey is a very popular animal and there are a lot of stories about it: the most famous of them all is about Xi You, the King Monkey. The story tells about a magic Monkey who dared to challenge even Buddha.

The year of the Red Monkey is a period propitious for challenging and getting the best success in business, politics and property market.

The signs which may profit most from 2016 are – in addition to the Monkey – the Mouse (1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008) and the Dragon (1928, 1940, 1952, 1964,1976, 1988, 2000, 2012), which in Western tradition correspond to Sagittarius and Aries respectively.

The most penalized sign is the Tiger (1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010) but also the Ox, the Snake, the Goat and the Pig may meet some difficulties.

The salient features of the Red Monkey are energy, passion, expressiveness and leadership, driven by the masculine energy of Fire, which in Taoism is symbolized by burning wood.

The keywords for 2016 may be ‘innovation’ and ‘risks’, since the Monkey has a very inventive and daring personality; so only the people who will be ready to embark on a new adventure and to face up bravely to the resulting dangers may have success. In a word, it won’t be a year for the weak and the unsure.

HOW TO HARMONIZE THE ASTRAL ENERGIES OF OUR HOUSES WORKING WITH FENG SHUI IN THE YEAR OF THE RED MONKEY.

The direction of the Earthly Branch corresponding to the Monkey is 240°, while its element is Metal.

So, whatever our sign is, in order to harmonize the astral energies of our houses in the new Chinese year, we should support the right direction (240°) and element (Metal); but, since the combination of the year with the 12 Earthly Branches corresponds to Fire, we should also take into consideration this last element which, as regards to Metal, is in ‘overcoming role’ in the Cycle of 5 Elements.

To go into details, the direction 240° has to be meant as an angle of 30° included between 225° and 255° within the Chinese Compass (Ba Gua). Since South is at 180° and West at 270°, our direction in 2016 will be West-South-West.

As the elements involved are Fire and Metal, while the direction is concerning not only the West but also the South-West (which is Earth), we should strengthen the Fire-Earth-Metal energetic chain.

Then in the Ba Gua we have to spot the areas of our houses corresponding to South and South-West directions and check if colors, materials and shapes harmonize with the cycle of 5 Elements; and empower it where we notice some weakness.

For instance, we should be able to combine lights and bright colors (red, yellow, orange, purple) with more autumnal colors (ochre, brown) starting from South-South-West and going towards South-West-West, while the shapes have to change from the sharpest (triangles, pyramides, zigzags) to the flattest (low rectangles and squares). The materials can vary from glass to ceramic or terracotta, ending with sheer metal.

These are general indications but, as we’ve pointed out in other sections of this site, it is advisable to provide for the proper treatment of each house according to its peculiar features and to its residents.
