IRREGULAR SHAPE FENG SHUI

IRREGULAR SHAPE FENG SHUI: HARMONIZING A GUN-SHAPED DWELLING

According to Feng Shui, the ideal shapes for a home are the square and the not too elongated rectangle; in fact, the distribution of spaces within these two shapes is quite rational, conversely we encounter several problems when having to furnish dwellings with irregular shape Feng Shui

In the case of a gun-shaped dwelling, there are two rooms located externally with respect to the regular rectangular plan, as shown in fig. 1:

The first room on the left represents the barrel of the gun, the second the trigger, while the main body framed in red is the stock and the drum.

The Qi that circulates in the dwelling will tend to flow along the direction of the gun barrel, gaining speed and thus weakening the energy in the rest of the house.

The first precaution is to always keep the access doors to the two side rooms tightly closed, but the decisive solution will be to conceal the door of the gun barrel well from view, so as to isolate it from the rest. In this way, it will not be an integral part of the dwelling, and the barycenter can be traced within the main body (red circle in fig. 1); otherwise, the barycenter will have to be positioned more eccentrically, with the risk of ending up off the plan (violet circle in fig. 1). This always results in a significant imbalance in the distribution of Qi in the eight directions of the Chinese Compass (Ba Gua).

Figure 2 below shows an example of a dwelling with a shape that can be traced back to the one described above, in which the door leading to the narrow part of the apartment was specifically designed to ‘close’ the square geometry, as illustrated by the photos (Fig.3 and 4).

In figure 3 there is a photo of the open door that leads to the ‘gun barrel’ and in figure 4 the well-hidden closed door that resolves the irregular shape and allows for greater balance of the house’s energy.
